Kink Couture: Fetish in Vogue

Kink Couture is a project of hard-hitting fetish photography captured in an artistic, high fashion style.
The images include sadomasochistic scenes and depictions of specific fetishes, from the popular to the peculiar, but the emphasis is on the artistic rather than explicit, with attention drawn to aesthetics and design, make-up, coordination and presentation.

The aim is to document real fetishes, but in a bold, bright, artistic way.
There is a lot of really good fetish photography out there, but on the whole it's either realistic and very dark, shadowy and sinister or bubblegum fetish fashion photography with no middle ground.

Think the back section of Ann Summers, (but not made in china in icky plastics) accessorise it with expensive jewellery, designer threads, immaculate make-up and luscious locations then blend it with the type of advertising photography you get in the likes of Vogue magazine (preferably the European version!) and you’re part of the way there.

The end goal of this project is to create a coffee table photo book. But we also want the process of making the book to be an enjoyable escapade for all concerned.

About the Author

Alexander Ramsay aka ‘Boykitten’ is a successful semi-professional fetish model, with a niche hyper androgynous look. He has been modelling for four years, and has ‘officially’ been on the fetish scene since he turned 18 but has been interested in BDSM for far longer!

Boykitten is a second year psychology undergraduate at Anglia Ruskin University, and ultimately aspires to obtain a doctorate in psychology. In the meantime he is enjoying student life and using his ample free time to indulge in more creative projects.
Although Alex appears to be a rather striking looking young man, he was born female and is in the process of gender reassignment. Alex has been ‘Alexander’ for three years now, and lives happily as a boy slave with his Master, Rod, who just happens to be the photographer for this project!


About the Photographer

The photographer for this project is Rod Macdonald, who has written three books on photography, including the best-selling Erotique Digitale.
His interest in photography spans more than 20 years, and since retiring as Head of Media at Anglia Ruskin University he has focused on photography of the nude and erotic rope bondage.

His work has been shown at the Seattle Erotic Art Festival, where he won Best International Artist award in 2007, the Dirty Show in Detroit (2008, 2009), Leeds Erotica (2008), Coffee, Cake and Kink and Resistance Gallery (2008, 2009) in London, as well as in Cambridge and Norwich. He is also among the artists whose work is included in ‘Best Erotic Photography of 2009’, to be published in August by Erotic Signature.

Boykitten and Rod met as photographer and model on a major modelling website in 2007 and now have a full time D/s relationship! They are both active on the BDSM scene, frequenting the Cambridge, Norwich and Ipswich munches as well as various play parties and fetish events up and down the country.
